Comment: Moderate scramble for this traverse
This might be the ABC of the RMB Peakbaggers. Many of us newbees joined the group for this very awesome and exciting trip. I am very honoured to have met a few of the titans of the RMB Peakbaggers.
Here's the itinerary and attendace:
A. Mt. Alderson ......... Eric Magno - Vern Dewit - Kelly Smith - Frank Nelson - Bob Parr
B. Buchanan Peak .... Eric Magno - Vern Dewit - Kelly Smith - James Yearous - Sonny Bou
Buchanan Ridge ... Eric Magno - Vern Dewit - Kelly Smith - James Yearous
C. Mt. Carthew ......... Eric Magno - Vern Dewit - Kelly Smith - James Yearous

When I learned that my group's scramble was not gonna happen, I immediately focused on details on the webboard for the RMB's scramble.
I arrived early morning in Waterton hoping that the plan was still to meet at Cameron Lake. I was very excited but also very nervous, because nobody knew that I was coming. I thought maybe they stopped sending messages on the webboard and continued their communication via email. I was afraid I might have missed a change of plan. Soon, I was greeted by Linda Breton and her welcoming laughter. Whew, the plan was still on.
Few other cars started arriving, carrying some more of the RMB Peakbaggers. This is a group of scramblers with vast experience and a hardcore attitude. They were nice enough to include me on this trip in spite of my unexpected arrival.
Our overall car to car time was 11.75hrs.

Visit the reports and photos of Vern Dewit and Kelly Smith from the same trip.
(1) This is our traverse route to Mt. Carthew from Buchanan Ridge.

(2) Vern and I went ahead to check the feasibility of the rock band. The first rock was safe and a fun scramble, but the second rock (below stupid green dot) didn't seem safe at all.
Vern made a safe decision to avoid it and do a longer approach instead.

(1) Looking back to Buchanan Ridge, we waved an ok signal to Kelly and James. They simply followed our path to the traverse.

(2) This is Vern on the final horrible, horrible slope of Mt. Carthew. I wish I had trek poles.

(1) 2hrs from Buchanan Ridge. Our fourth and last summit of the day. It deserves a good rest, a good cheer, and a lung full of fresh air.

(2) We descended via the "regular" ascent route, back to Carthew Pass. We scree-skied straight down the slope to the Alderson-Carthew Trail.
Our time back to the car was 1:45hrs.
