Comment: Moderate scramble
This trip is part of
my 2-peak day scramble. I started with The Fortress,
then worked my way up to the neighbouring summit Gusty
Peak. The weather was almost perfect. Pure sun, deep blue
sky but with chilly strong wind. My overall roundtrip took 8
hours.
I have been eye-balling this trip for a long time, and today
I finally did it.
(1) This is The Fortress from just a little bit pass the Chester
Lake falls.
(2) I chose this trip thinking Chester Lake is a busy destination...
I was alone the whole time. Here's the pond, the col, and
the summit. I got here with no thoughts but "no bears
please".
(1) I started gaining the col as soon as I saw the pond. From
the col, numerous trails guided me to the top. Here's a look
at the north peaks of Mt. Chester.
(2) This is the last push to the summit. I scrambled up at
the left of the rock band.
Even
with full sun, I still shivered from the cold wind.
I started sneezing and feeling really tired when I got to
the top of this mountain... I knew I had to gain some energy
so I could continue on and do Gusty
Peak as well.
