June 30, 2005. We Drove to Golden, B.C. mainly to visit the Bear Refuge. But of course they would have a "tourist package", and we're weak enough to take it. Gondola, SkyLunch, and the Bear Refuge for $37/person. The food was good, and we saw Boo the bear. The Gondola was also being used by Mountain Bikers and the runs were quite busy at that time.
It was quite weired to ride a lift in tees and see mountain bikers down below instead of snowboarders.
So of course, most of the lifts I know don't go to the summit. The end of our lift was sure enough to be in between two higher peaks.
(1) This is Blue Heaven 8033'. Half an hour hike to the summit from the restaurant, mostly through a ski run. The view is wicked. 360 of flurried summits and green valleys.
(1) After lunch, we went back to the base and took a quad, half way up the hill to visit the Bear Refuge.
(2) This is Boo. His mother was apparently killed by a poacher and so some better people had to adopt and raise him so he would survive. He's 3 and a half years old. He's still quite young and small but if I see this size grizzly in the wild... honestly, I don't know what I would do.
