We headed out with a bunch of
other mountaineers. It is very cheap to arrange the transportation
from Baguio to the trailhead if more people are involved with
the money. The trail to the first campsite includes endless
switchbacks. I remember this particularly because of many shortcuts
that Jerahmeel and I kept taking on our way back, until I got
both of us lost and ended up traversing the wrong side of the
mountain. The trail to the summit is very straightforward and
has only a few parts of steep ascent.
We left the summit with a shock. The morning after our summit
camp, everybody was getting ready to initiate new members. No
sun was present at that time, pretty chilly, couldn't see anything
around us but pure white. Suddenly a lightning struck. All of
us had the same reaction. We all felt the current run through
our veins and it freaked us out. Those who were still in bed
levitated. It was an event in which nobody knew what to do,
where to hide and what else to expect. |
